(Warning....this is a long post! But I don't care because I love Sea World!)
I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Sea World! Let's face it...when all is said and done we're all just kids at heart, especially me!! I was so excited that Lisa was in for the ride. We started our day with breakfast and mimosa's at the Broken Yolk Cafe, did a little more driving around and then made our way to Sea World.
The first thing we did when we got there was go on this "ride" that went way up in the air and rotated slowly around offering awesome views of the whole park and San Diego.

| This was my FAVORITE show that we saw! |
The next stop was the dolphin pool, which was so much fun!! They swam around and played with each other, and would occasionally splash the crowd. The trainers came out to feed them and make them do some tricks. We didn't have any luck getting to touch the dolphins the first time, but came back later in the evening when there were fewer people and got to touch them! They felt rubbery, but weren't rough like I thought they'd be...much softer!
In between shows we stopped at some exhibits to see all the different sea creatures. There were seals, starfish, sharks, turtles, penguins, and all kinds of other animals.
Besides the dolphins and killer whales and their shows, my favorite exhibit was Shark Encounter! For those of you that know me well enough, this isn't a surprise...but I love sharks!! I have a strange fascination with them and it's a big goal of mine to go cage diving amongst them one day! I WILL do it!
We also went to a few of the shows during our visit to Sea World. The first show we saw was called One Ocean and featured killer whales. First and foremost, we made sure NOT to sit in the "soak zone". The people in the first 12 rows got drenched! But the whales were so smart and it amazed me that they learned these routines and tricks. They just seem to know what to do! It's crazy!!
The second show we saw was called Blue Horizons and was my favorite out of all the shows. It not only featured dolphins doing tricks, but they had high divers and people suspended over the water doing flips and routines. The trainers were actually allowed to get in the water with the dolphins in this show and do tricks with them. It was so much fun to watch!! It makes me want to change careers and be a dolphin trainer!!
After this show it was starting to get really cold, and of course both Lisa and I were not dressed for the cold so we were freezing! But we were determined to stay for the Shamu Rocks show later that night. However, there was one exhibit we hadn't seen yet and it happened to be the penguins, beluga whales and the polar bear. So we decided to go ahead and see that while we were waiting for the Shamu show to start. Little did we know, but the exhibit was FREEZING! Poor planning on our part...
| Isn't he precious!! |
The last stop of the night was the Shamu Rocks show! Honestly...it was very similar to One Ocean, just at night with colorful lights. We also thought there would be fireworks at the end of the sho, but sadly we were disappointed because there were none.
Sea World was so much fun! I definitely felt like a kid all over again!
